Invisalign uses clear aligners to gradually shift teeth into optimal position. In this video, Dr. Khodabakhsh explains what you can expect when you choose our practice in McKinney, TX, for this orthodontic treatment.

A Better Way to Straighten Teeth The Advantages of Invisalign

Patients all over the world are asking their dentists and orthodontists about Invisalign because clear aligners are:

Almost Invisible

Patients, especially adult patients, don't want to straighten their teeth with braces because metal brackets and wires can be unsightly and embarrassing. Invisalign aligners, however, are almost impossible to detect when worn.

Removable

When you choose Invisalign, you can easily remove your aligners when you eat, brush, and floss. This means that you don't have to make any modifications to your diet or oral hygiene routine.

Comfortable

The brackets and wires of traditional orthodontics can scratch and poke your cheeks and tongue. Invisalign aligners, on the other hand, are made of smooth plastic, and they fit snugly over your teeth, so they are far less irritating to wear.

Effective

Ultimately, the best thing about Invisalign is that it really works! When you commit to wearing your aligners for at least 22 hours a day, you can achieve a straight, healthy smile in six to 18 months.

What Clear Aligners Can Do For Your Smile

Like braces, Invisalign is an effective orthodontic option for patients who want straighter teeth. Here's what Invisalign's clear aligners can do for your smile:

A More Attractive Smile

Teeth that are crooked and gapped can make you want to hide your smile. Invisalign gently shifts your teeth into a straighter position, creating a more attractive smile. After orthodontic treatment at our Texas practice, you'll have the confidence to grin from ear to ear.

Better Oral Hygiene

Brushing and flossing teeth that are crowded or twisted can be challenging, leaving you vulnerable to dental decay. Yet with braces, gum and sticky foods can get stuck between wires and rubber bands. With clear aligners, you don't have to worry about food getting stuck in your orthodontics. Once your Invisalign treatment is complete and your teeth are straightened, you'll have an easier time keeping them clean.

Prevent TMJ

Misaligned teeth can shift your bite, putting extra stress on your temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and leading to chronic pain. If your jaw naturally tries to align itself, it can cause your teeth to hit each other at odd angles, causing wear over time. Left untreated, you could experience locking jaw joints and headaches. Invisalign can prevent TMJ disorder by realigning your teeth and correcting your bite.

High-Tech Orthodontics

Our office features a state-of-the-art iTero Element® 2 digital scanner. When you decide to undergo Invisalign treatment with us, Dr. Khodabakhsh will use this cutting-edge tool to create a highly precise digital model of your bite. The scanner integrates directly with Invisalign's proprietary software, so we can upload your scans to the computer and then show you a digital preview of how your teeth will move as you wear the clear aligners.

The Invisalign lab will produce your aligners based on the model of your bite, so you can trust that they will fit properly and move your teeth with pinpoint accuracy.

Top Questions Patients Have About Invisalign

How does Invisalign work?

Invisalign uses clear aligners that apply gentle and consistent pressure on your teeth. Patients wear a series of trays that gradually reposition the teeth over six to 18 months. Trays are replaced approximately every two weeks, continuing until you achieve your ideal smile.

Does treatment hurt?

Invisalign's invisible aligners may cause some mild discomfort as they gently move your teeth. Patients say the aligners are less painful than the metal brackets and wires of braces, however, and are easy to adjust to.

Do I qualify for Invisalign?

Two of the biggest factors that affect your candidacy for Invisalign include how misaligned your teeth are and if you have good oral health. Patients who have gum disease or tooth infection will need restorative dentistry before qualifying for orthodontic treatment. If your teeth are severely misaligned, our McKinney dentist will recommend braces over aligners.

What to Expect After Invisalign Treatment

/

As with braces, patients who complete Invisalign treatment will need to wear a retainer to help maintain their results. The retainer is usually worn at night and helps keep your teeth in their new positions. In some cases, you may be able to wear your last aligner as a retainer.
